Ericsson to supply Telefonica's metropolitan broadband network in Spain
Ericsson scored a nice contract in Spain. Whish I could get in on this, but my transmission skills are a little rusty. Sure would be nice to stay close to home for a while though.
Telefónica de España has selected Ericsson as supplier for its metro DWDM optical network. The new network will be a cornerstone of the next generation transport network of Telefónica in Spain.
Under the agreement Ericsson will deploy its Multihaul WDM solution to enhance the capacity of Telefónica's metropolitan transport network in Spain.
Enrique Carrascal, Network Director, Telefónica de España, says: "We have chosen Ericsson as the supplier of this technology due to its outstanding flexibility, optimal performance and operational synergies."
The new network will allow Telefónica to meet the increasing traffic demand generated by the consumer's response to its broadband services offering.
