Nortel Wins Wireless 3G Network Deal with NorthernTel Mobility and Télébec Mobilité

DALLAS - NorthernTel Mobility and Télébec Mobilité, two innovative wireless entities managed by Bell Nordiq, Group Inc. have selected Nortel* [NYSE/TSX: NT] to expand its CDMA 2000 1X 3G network. The network will deliver high-speed, broadband services to 490,000 subscribers across an approximately 830,000 square kilometer area in northern Québec and Ontario, Canada.

Nortel is the preferred wireless infrastructure supplier for both NorthernTel Mobility and Télébec Mobilité. Both operators have been deploying Nortel's network equipment since 1995.

The network expansion will allow NorthernTel Mobility and Télébec Mobilité to expand capacity and deliver superior voice quality. The expansion also supports advanced high-speed broadband multimedia services such as mobile Web, email, short messaging service, picture messaging, interactive gaming, access to corporate data and other multimedia applications.
