In the news today;
Bell Mobility in Canada and Sprint have announced nifty new service for cellular phone users. If you own a camera phone, you will now be able to send photo messages to users in Canada and the US if they are using either of these service providers.
If cellular phone service users take to picture messaging like they have jumped on text messaging, this may well be a great boost to the bottom lines of both companies bottom lines. And with camera phones expected to outsell digital cameras in 2004 they may well be on to something.

Bell Mobility and Sprint customers first in North America to share
pictures between wireless service providers
Bell Mobility and Sprint today announced the
launch of North America's first interoperable picture messaging service for
camera phone users. Until today, camera phone users were only able to share
pictures via the Internet or with other camera phone users who subscribed to
the same wireless service provider. Bell Mobility and Sprint are leading the
way in bringing seamless picture messaging sharing to North American camera

Also in the wireless telephone industry, AT&T Wireless has completed the aquisition of U.S. Cellular's TDMA wireless operations in south central Texas. This move will gain AT&T 74,000 customers. More....
Nortel Networks has gained a big contract for their Succession voice over IP platform to Aliant, Canada’s third largest telecommunications company. See the release below.

They have been awarded a $5.4 million contract to design and manage an integrated networking solution for a global retailer specializing in furniture and home accessories. The 3 year contract will see AT&T update, integrate and manage the company's information technology platform, including data and voice communications. More
And they also have been awarded 2 US government contracts local phone service at 2 air bases. The contracts are worth $3.3 million over 5 years.
